Nicaragua celebrates the 46th anniversary of its Army with a grand military parade

The celebration, presided over by the nation’s co-presidents, Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, included the participation of General Julio César Avilés Castillo, Minister of Defense Rosa Adelina Barahona, and First Commissioner Francisco Díaz Madriz.
It is also worth noting that the event was attended by ambassadors, defense attachés, military, naval, and air attachés, and heads of military missions accredited in Nicaragua, who accompanied the authorities on the main platform.
General Avilés Castillo led the parade, accompanied by the General Command, which included Colonel Generals Bayardo Rodríguez, Chief of the General Staff, and Marvin Corrales, Inspector General, as well as Major General Spiro Bassi, Deputy Chief of the General Staff. Members of the Military Council and senior officers were also present.
During the ceremony, General Avilés Castillo emphasized that “the Nicaraguan Army dedicates this military parade in honor of the heroic Nicaraguan people, marching with patriotism, firmness, and dignity, always in defense of the homeland and the well-being of the nation.”
“Today we will march loyal, firm, and united as worthy heirs of the Army in Defense of National Sovereignty, of General Sandino, and of his motto of Homeland and Liberty. We will march proudly knowing that we are the people in uniform, working for their own benefit. We will march loyal, firm, and united, always thinking about building the free, dignified, just, prosperous, and peaceful homeland that we all deserve,” he added.
He also noted that the parade was attended by more than 2,500 “brothers in arms” and 250 combat vehicles.
“All brothers and sisters, today more than 2,500 brothers-in-arms and 250 combat vehicles will march along this Avenida de Bolívar a Chávez, demonstrating the high level of firmness and cohesion we have achieved to defend the achievements and rights of our people, as expressed in our Constitution. The Constitution that governs us, and with honor and loyalty we will firmly protect, respect, and fulfill to the best of our ability what is established therein,” he said.
The parade included representative groups of land, naval, and air military units, as well as cadets, members of the patriotic reserve, and volunteer brigade members of the Civil Defense General Staff.
The commemoration of the 46th anniversary highlighted the role of the Nicaraguan Army in defending sovereignty, the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, and its support for communities in productive activities.
The event concluded with a message of unity and commitment to the country, reaffirming the values of loyalty, dignity, and patriotism that characterize the institution.
